Galería Extra presents the work of three artists whose proposals for Liste 2025 explore organic materials as fluctuating layers of perception. Through cocoa, cochineal, and indigo, their works unfold as poetic gestures that navigate the intersections of art and politics. These pigments and materials act as thresholds, opening dialogues between nature, human experience, and the socioeconomic structures that shape contemporary realities.
Jamie Denburg Habie is a Guatemalan artist based in Antigua. Her work blends neuroscience, material studies, meditation, and political ecologies to reveal connections between human, material, animal, and celestial bodies. Through embodiment, she explores decentralized consciousness and empathy. She holds an interdisciplinary degree in art and politics from NYU’s Gallatin School.
Andrea Monroy Palacios' practice explores Guatemala’s textile traditions, examining their symbolism and role in identity. She approaches weaving and embroidery as manual writing, analyzing textiles as vessels of meaning. Her work also integrates natural pigments, deepening her exploration of materiality, tradition, and storytelling.
Adán Vallecillo’s artistic practice combines sociology and visualization through in-house research. His work redefines materials, actions, and objects from a socio-aesthetic perspective. He has exhibited across America, Europe, and Asia and participated in biennials such as Cuenca, FEMSA, Mercosur, Montevideo, and Venice. In 2020, he received CIFO’s Mid-Career Artists Award.
