Shower and Whistle’s In the Living Room at Liste 2025 reimagines domestic space amid South Korea’s 2024 short-lived martial law declaration. Whistle presents Kyoungtae Kim (b. 1983) with photographs that explore modes of observation and perception; Shower showcases Yonsok Yi (b. 1995) with ritualistic paintings interrogating histories in objects. Together, they frame the living room as a threshold between intimacy and scrutiny, probing where private life ends and collective experience begins.
Yonsok Yi (b.1995, South Korea) is a Seoul-based artist. Yi's practice revises and diverges paintings to build up a constructively unstable terrain by connecting to media such as cinema, music, and craft. Yi’s paintings and their constellations appear highly manipulated, cryptic and almost deceiving, elaborating upon antiquated beliefs and symbols.
