For Liste 2025, Gozié Ojini will show new sculptures of manipulated and restructured musical instruments that echo his interest in the language of sampling in hip-hop music production. Translating the sonic into the physical, his silenced objects are coded with synesthesia that follow a poetic logic. By employing careful gestures with found objects, he explores their social significance and emotional resonance held within their history and materiality.

Gozié Ojini (b. 1995 in Los Angeles) lives in New Haven, CT, where he will receive his MFA from Yale University in 2025. He holds a BFA from UCLA (2019). His work is currently included in ‘Alice Coltrane, Monument Eternal’ at the Hammer Museum, Los Angeles, and was featured in a solo show at Silke Lindner in 2024.
