Boz Deseo Garden’s practice engages Afropessimism to position transatlantic slavery as the unconscious thread between knowledge production and psychoanalytic modes of enjoyment. Garden’s presentation at Liste continues their interrogations of the dramaturgy between the politics of desire, philosophies of property, and archival studies. Through an aesthetics of secrecy and performance, Garden presents the readymade objects of their practice as both indeterminate traces and banal spectacles of racial slavery’s enduring effects.
