For Liste 2025, Blue Velvet is pleased to present a solo booth by Paris-based artist François Durel (b. 1993). In this presentation, Durel initiates a transhistorical dialogue between the work of late British playwright Sarah Kane (1971-1999) and his own practice. Inspired by Kane’s distinctive stage directions, his new series of sculptures offer a compelling exploration of personal memories, obsessions, and collective experiences of restriction.

François Durel (b. 1993) is a Paris-based artist who studied at Central Saint Martins and École Supérieure des Beaux-Arts de Nantes Métropole. Recent exhibitions include Artissima, Fitzpatrick Gallery in Paris, and zaza’ in Milan. His sculptural practice engages with the somatic qualities of materials like leather, exploring themes of secrecy, desire, and psychological tension. Drawing from sacred and secular imagery, his work reflects on architecture, ritual, and personal histories through a meticulous, almost surgical process.
