Attracted by the aesthetics of subcultures, music, and the zines and symbols of counterculture, Malte Zenses follows a cross-media approach. His work critically reflects the zeitgeist, evoking a sense of disillusionment—one rooted in the realization that societal collapse is man-made, driven by power and greed. His inspiration emerges from socio-political research, notes, places, or snapshots, embedding personal references that invite the viewer’s own interpretations.
Malte Zenses (b. 1987, Solingen, Germany) lives and works in Berlin. He holds a Dipl. from HfG Offenbach (2014) and was a Meisterschüler at Kunstakademie Düsseldorf (2016). Recent and upcoming exhibitions include Pequod Co. (Mexico City), G2 Kunsthalle (Leipzig), Sperling (Munich), Damien & The Love Guru (Brussels), and Kunstverein Kassel & Nürnberg.
