suns.works is proud to present “New Meditations” – a new series by Mimi Hope. Mined from an extensive personal archive of meditation videos, Mimi Hope’s silkscreen paintings are designed to explore an elevated state of consciousness. Paired with materials and techniques associated with the theatres and clubs of Hamburg’s St. Pauli district, the works also take on qualities of spectacle and experiences of ecstasy – thus serving as layered visual access points to a transcendental state.

suns.works shares the booth with JUBG who will be presenting Georg Gatsas

Mimi Hope (b. 1994, London) lives and works in Hamburg. She received a BA from Chelsea College of Arts (2017) and is currently studying in the MFA programme at Hochschule für bildende Künste Hamburg. Recent exhibitions include: Chess Club, Hamburg; Roland Ross, Margate; Vardaxoglou, London. Engaging with themes of aspiration and transformation, Hope’s paintings draw from spiritual texts, musical theatre, and the digital realm to interrogate the intersection of desire, consumer culture, and enlightenment.
