For his presentation at Liste 2025, Evaldsson explores the temple as a metaphor for the human body and memory, revealing hidden layers of thought and emotion. Snakes—a symbol of both danger and redemption—writhe through these imagined spaces, echoing the fragility of memory, the relationship between master and apprentice, and the duality of desire and forgetfulness. Colours play a significant role: green symbolizes growth and forgiveness, while ochre reflects the earth’s weight, humanity’s flaws, and enduring love for creation.

Ferdinand Evaldsson (b. 1988, Sweden), lives and works in Stockholm. He graduated from Konstfack University of Arts, Stockholm with an MFA in 2020. Recent exhibitions: Coulisse Gallery, Stockholm; St Chads, London; Bonniers Konsthall, Stockholm. Evaldsson creates wood reliefs that draw their symbolism from memories and their palette from the tradition of icon painting.
