Ehrlich Steinberg presents "Passagenwerken" by Los Angeles-based artist Coleman Collins, featuring low relief wall-based work, video, and sculpture. Gesturing to Walter Benjamin’s unfinished text "Arcades Project", the presentation explores the concept of the arcade as a symbolic and literal passageway: the locus of an encounter between the West and Global South. Works depict the arcade in various forms, continuing Collins’ research into how real and virtual spaces are socially produced.

Coleman Collins (b. 1986) is an LA-based artist who holds an MFA from UCLA (2018). Previous solo and group exhibitions include Ehrlich Steinberg, Los Angeles; Herald St, London; Kunsthalle Wien, Vienna and Brief Histories, New York. His work explores notions of diaspora in relation to technological methods of transmission, translation, and copying.
