Ana Viktoria Dzinic presents Romantisch, an installation comprising photographic paintings and a flower display. Investigating what makes a picture stand out on algorithm-driven platforms, it includes a series of manipulated portraits of artists and friends, in which Dzinic blends photography with painting, generating painterly gestures with software while mimicking digital filters with physical pigments and brushstrokes. Transposing Walter Benjamin's analysis of technical images in the era of TikTok, Dzinic’s work uses the codes of glamour and cuteness that dominate digital spaces to question the ability of today’s images to convey a subject’s ‘aura.’
