In Yoon Jiyoung’s work, we encounter the vulnerability and unease that stem from our inherent interconnectedness with others. The silicone the artist frequently uses in her sculptures, with its tactile texture and flexible form, evokes the human body, serving as an analogy for how we relate to and connect with others. Often stretched, torn by internal columns, or intertwined in net-like configurations, the material reflects the tensions and complexities of these relationships.

At this year’s Liste Art Fair, Yoon highlights the intricate emotions and dynamics of individuals within shifting and precarious social structures. Her video works explore the dualities of sacrifice and interdependence, revealing underlying tensions and resistance. Meanwhile, her sculptures—depicting both the external (skin) and internal (organs) aspects of the human body—symbolize our deeply interconnected existence. By portraying individuals caught in moments of tension and sacrifice, her works question societal roles and relationships while seeking pathways toward resolution, capturing the fragility and resilience of human connections.
